Why I love what I do

I love the versatility of yoga and how practising regularly can be life changing! In the busy world we live in and a society that encourages us to go go go, Yoga provides an opportunity to reconnect with our bodies, settle the mind and to provide us with opportunities for serenity, peace and joy.

Whilst I very much enjoy the asana practice of yoga and its ability to build a strong and healthy body, it is the teaching of self awareness and the power of our breath that is truly astonishing. I am a big believer in prioritising self care, living with a sense of gratitude and contentment and looking after our mind, body and spirit. Yoga allows me to continue do this!

Jacqui Street has always had a passion for health and wellbeing. In her early 20s she was a keen gym goer and believed a health body was gained from hours and hours of hard and strenuous exercise that was measured by exhaustion. Occasionally she would  participate in a mind/body gym class called Body Balance however she would leave before the mediation commenced for the last 10 minutes because she thought it was boring and a waste of time.

Much has changed since then! Jacqui began practising yoga in 2013 when she was pregnant with her second child and couldn’t believe the benefits initially on a physical level. It wasn’t long until she began to notice the benefits yoga was having on her ability to cultivate calmness in my mind. Yoga has also been the perfect accompaniment to a favourite past time of recreational distance running, maintain subtleness in the body but also building resilience in the mind through the use of breath.

Jacqui absolutely loves building on her knowledge and understanding of the practice of yoga, completing her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2023. She views her role as a yoga teacher to be a privilege. It gives her so much pleasure  to be able to share the practice of yoga with others and to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all people to experience the joy and benefits of yoga.

Jacqui is also a Health and Food Technology teacher, passionate about holistic health and living a purposeful life. She has a keen interest in the science of Ayurveda and the gut, mind-body connection and enjoys experimenting with Ayurvedic cooking.
